COMMUNITY GARDENING CLUB

Our Community Gardening Club imparts gardening knowledge to elementary school-aged children, teaching them about cultivating their own produce and embracing sustainability. Through engaging outdoor programs, we introduce youths to fresh information and skill sets, fostering personal and social development. This initiative enhances their physical activity and well-being while creating enduring memories with peers. Our hands-on, enjoyable approach nurtures a love for gardening, promoting a lifelong connection to nature. This interactive learning not only educates but also cultivates a sense of responsibility towards the environment, encouraging young minds to thrive in a sustainable future.

BEAUTIFY THE BLOCK: EMPOWERING AND ENGAGING LOCAL FAMILIES

Astor D. Rice Foundation’s Beautify the Block, uplifted a central city neighborhood, fostering community unity and civic engagement. Residents joined hands to revitalize one of Binghamton’s most challenged areas, promoting waste reduction, recycling, and community awareness. This fun, engaging event not only cleaned up but also promoted environmental stewardship, collaboration, and a safer, more welcoming environment. Partnering with local businesses and nonprofits, this alliance aims not just to reduce litter but to unite for a cleaner, better future.

FACE (FAMILIES ACHIEVE COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT)

Our FACE programs cater to East Middle School students and their families, pivotal in their academic and social growth. These years shape youth profoundly. FACE intervenes early, offering proactive support to strengthen family bonds, enhance mental health, and boost academic performance. It fosters increased family engagement with schools and community resources for future success. Utilizing a holistic, strength-based approach, it includes youth groups, mentoring, and recreational activities. Parental support groups, resource access, multi-family sessions, and shared meals tackle food insecurities and promote family communication. To ease participation barriers, transportation and childcare are provided.
